GAMBLING ON SHIPWRECK..

The Marine Insurance (Gambling Policies) Bill, for which the Board of Trade is responsible, was considered on the 29th alt by Standing Comuitese C. of the House of Commons, Sir O Brynmor Jones in the chair. Clause 1 provides that if any person makes a contract of marine insurance without having any bond fide interest, direct or indirect, in the safety of the ship, or a bond-fde expectation of such interest, he shall six months' imprisonment or fine of £100 and to forfeiture of any money due to him under the contract. The same penalties shall be marred by any shipowner's employee who is not himself part owner of the ship if he takes out an insurance on the vessel and the contract is subject to any such condition as "Interest or uo interest," Without further proof of interest than the policy itself," or Without benefit of salvage to the insurer." Any broker or insurer who lesnes such a policy will also be liable to the penalties mentioned of the House having sut till nearly three o'clock in the morning the Committee were unable to got the quorum of twenty members till the chair vious Thursday, after a late sitting of the House, the Committee failed to obtain a quorum and did no business.
