Correspondence was read concerning certain dangerous blasting operations, and the Secretary was instructed. should it be necessary, to take action in the matter.
The Superinterdent of Folice reported that the following cases had teen dealt with at the Mixed Court in cothe last meeting:Summonses -Throwing rabbish &e. into the public drains, 4; illegal detention, 1 eresting a disturbance, 3; debt, I quitting services without giving notice, 1; breach of civipal Regulations (disorderly house), 2 Bummary Arrests-Breach of Opium Regulations, 3; committing a nuisance, 1; being. a rogue and a vagabond &, 1; being in posses sion of stolen property, 2; assault, 3 breach of of Prison Regulations, 2.

At about six o'clock on Sanday morning the 18th inst. the chief ofloor (Mr. Mitchell) of the str. Satsuma of the New York and Oriental Company noticed smoke issuing from Site mapintor of the number 2 hold. The com mander (Captain Armstrong) was immediately notifed and it was resolved to run for Shanghai with all speed. Steam jets wore ran into hold in order to extinguish the fire, but this method proved successful. The Satsuma arrived at the month of the Whsugpoo River at ab at eleven the same areaing, and at six o'clock yesterday morning (19th inst.) a pilot took her in and moored her opposite Woosing Forts whore she now lies.
