UKINESE NEW YEAR HOLIDAY,
To-morrow, being Chinese New Year's day the General Post Offles will not be open to the Pabllc. No Collection from the Pillar bones or delivery will be made. On Saturday, the 23rd instant, the Post Office will be open from 7 am, to ncon--for the despatch of English Mail There will be one delivery of lotters and a collection from the Filtar Boxes as on Bur days.
The Money Order. Gffies will be entirely, clored. In the event of the arrival of the Canadian Mail the Post Office will be open for one hour fo-morrow, for the delivery thereof.
The Public are informed that the next outgoing Parcel Mall to the United Kingdom and other parts of the World will be closed-in this Offon at 5 pm,, to-day,
The Fatmaster General Lorden states that for the present the necessary arrangements for the transmission of Cash on Delivery Parcels from the United Kingdom to Hongkong are not completed at that end. Dus noties will be given as soor as a date can be fixed for the commonea- ment of the outward wrvice. This does not effect the Homeward service which commenced here] on the Ist instant

The Devanha, with the English mail of the 27th December, left Singapore on Saturday, the 16th instant, at 10.30 am, and may be expected here to-day. This packet brings replies to letters despatched from Hongkong on the 24th Nov., and the parcel mails closed in London for despatch by the all sea route on the 16th December, and for despatch overland on the 23rd December,
The Empress of China, with the Canadian mail left Shanghai on Thursday, the 20th jinst., at 6 a.m., and may be expected here to-morrow, at 9 am.
