What is the cry that now goes up, that now rings from one end of the land to the other, which is shouted demonstratively by employers and wailed in melancholy fashion by employes. Nothing less than "Too old at forty." And in nowian la this manifested more greatly than in the increasing baldness and greynous which has afflicted humanity.
Take a hundred typical mon and women of to-day, and what do you find-that nine-tenths of those will show an
an alarming and significant extent of hair weakness and deterioration
Have you ever given a thought to the important fact that all such hair weakness finds a responsive and echoing counterpart in the festures. That the lack of nutrition and virility which saps the hair growth has a parallel influence on the lines and looks of the face.
Take your typical bald-headed man-he has generally farrowed cheeks and brows! Take your typical hair-weakened woman-ehe shows morn wrinkles and marke of age on hor face than does her sister whose hair la full and natural

"DESTROYERS OF AIRSHIPS,
GERMAN EXPERIMENTS WITH AN ARMOURED
MAMOTOR CAR Simultaneously with the repid development of serial navigation, bringing the use of aerial warships to the limits of practical possibilty in a modern campaign, the German military authorities have long been conducting experi menta, with guns specially constructed to 3 upwards at airships.
Apart from the experimenta proceeding under the supervision of experte appointed by the German War. Office, both Messrs. Krupp, of Essen, and Ehrhardt, of Dusseldorf, are, says the Standard, pursaing independent lines of -research

The Airship destroyer carries munition consisting of 100 shrapnels, each shrapnel con taining bosides the explosive, 128 lean bullete and 27 pieces of lead.
The total weight of the airship destroyer, including ammunition and five men, is ap- proximately thres tona.

DUME" MEETINGS.
HOW POLES ARE FIGHTING THE GERMAN SPEECH LAW.
The oarious method adopted by the oppressed Poles in fermay to made the provisions of the new law relating to public meetings was revealed yesterday in the trial of three Polish residents of Rubrort, Ju Westphalia, who had convened a political meeting.**
Paragraph 19 of the new law relating to public meetings compels very speaker to the the German language The Poles circumvent this enactment by holding "dumb" meetings, at which no word whatever is spokon.
At the beginning of this particular meet- ing the chairman wrote on a large black- board on the platformu an announcement that no speeches could be delivered owing to the prohibition of the use of the Polish language. The contents of the lecture which would otherwise have been delivered would be distributed among the audience in the form of spamphlet..
This paraphlet was read by the whole audience in perfeof silenco, The resolutions to be sub- mitted to the meeting were then written on the blackboard and adopted ananimously by a show of hands, still without a single word being spoken.
The Public Prosecutor took setion against the conveners of the meeting for violating Paragraph 19 of the new law but the District ourt acquitted thom The Public Prosecutor lodged an appeal, but the Higher Court at t'ologne apheld the judgment of the District Court and confirmed the acquittal.
In
consequence of this precedent Polish "dumb" meetings, which are already extremely popular in all those parta of Germany where the Poles feel the need of congregating to de monstrate their grievinos, can now be held without hindrance.
MORE LETTERS OF QUEEN VICTORIA
The statement that's farther selection of the letters of Queen Victoris is to be, isand has aroused much interest and curiosity in the book
world.
It is understood that the King is willing to allow a further selection to be issued, which will include correspondence for twenty-five years after the death of the Prince Consort
As the letters deal with matters near to contemporary events, it will be realised that the atmost care has to be exercised in their selection, and for this reason they are not likely to be ready for pablication until 1910
The personal interest which King Edward took in the former volpines is well known; indeed, his Majesty exercised a personal supervision over the work engang makan er tr

10,000 WOMEN TO BE PROSECUTED.
Last year a young milliner in Bilbao (Spain) named Jezusa Pajana was sentenced to eight years' imprisonment for having killed her be. trothed who had been faithless. There were special cirenmstances connected with the crime, and 10,000 women in Bilbao signed an address of sympathy with the girl and extolling her act. This was prepared by the editor of the Laber al.
The address was conveyed to Jesusa by six beautiful girls, and was afterwards published. The Public Prosecutor decided that the pub lication of the address was a publishable offence, and oftations to answer the charge were served on its author and all the signatories, The serv ing of the citations has been a long task, and this has caused the delay in the proceedings,
The Public Prosecutor will ask for a sentence of four months' imprisonment on the writer of the address, and of one day's imprisonment on each of the signatories.
The 10,000 woman will be represented by counsel.
A POPULAR CLERGYMAN
Sciatica, Stiffness,
Nervous and Muscular Fatigue-
The remarkable public appreciation of the important letters appearing in this announcement week by week, is due to the absolute reliability of the experiences narrated. The very people we all know and feel we can trast, in whose word we bave implicit confidence, those people, the Doctors, Nurses, Clergymen, come forward and emphatically assure us of the exceptional efficacy of Phosferines Recently it was the Matron of an Ipswich Infirmary, then followed the striking testimony of Dr. Butler, and now in to-day's letter, the Vicar of a large parish recognises the innumerable benefits which unfailingly result from a course of Phosfarine. This last correspondent, the Rev. W. Thwaites, says that be found Phosferine to be of the greatest value in remedying and preventing Sciatica, and also particularly serviceable in dispelling nervous and muscular fatigue, and strengthening the system generally. Such frequent assurances from Clerical and Medical sources, of the energising properties of Phosferine, not only guarantee its remedial effects, but also enable readers who select the famous nerve tonic, to anticipate certain recovery and avoid suffering, loss of time, and worry of uncertain results.
Totally disappeared.
The Rev. Wm. Thwaites, Egremont Rectory, Cumberland, writes: "I have found from long experience that Phosferine is of the greatest value, for not only throwing off a threatened attack of Sciatica, but for enabling me to accomplish any great physical strain (like a long cycle ride) with ease and comfort. For some weeks back I have had a peculiar stiffness in my joints, arising from hard cycling I thought, but I dosed myself with Phosferine with the result, that within 24 hours the pain had gone. Phosferine gives strength to the nervous and muscular systent and as a rule I can feel the benefit in five hours."-July 6, 1908.,
