FOOTBALL
CLUB DEFEAT THE MIDDLESEX
Had the opinion of the large crowd which attended at Happy Valley on Saturday to witness the Shield match between the Hongkong Football club and the "G" Co. Middlesex been taken prior to the gawe, in all probability the great majority would have tipped an owy win for the Middleser. But as the unexpected often happens, so it did in the semi-final of the Shield Competition, the Club defeating the saldiars by two gusls to nil. The teams lined up as under:
✓
H. K. F. C.: Frankila; Autott and Morrell; Gray, B. Humphraye and Morley: Williame Wishart, M. G. Weston, Tarner and Mead,
"G" Co: Saunders; Perkins and Dautbetti English, Clegg, Flatt and Gee: L-Corp. Miles, Q, M. Bet.. English, Ralph and Sharp.
Shortly after play started the soldiers carried the leather along the fold and secared a co bor from the Club, This was nicely control by Lanes Corporal English, but promptly cleared by Morrell. Williams then got on the ball, bu* his dash up the field was checked by Donthatt, He got away again, however, and carried play into the Middlesex territory, where the Club got a corner kick.
