The senior girletben gaya an exhibition of physion) drill, this being followed by an excellent musical programme, the per- formore on whieb acquitted themselves in a manner highly creditable to thnic justructors.

The beadmistress, Mrs. Tutcher's annual report was then read by Mr. Irving. The import- antsimily of English composition which presonts so many diffeulties to native childran, basta. caivu a great stimulus from the generous offer of Mr. R. B. Belition. When our visit to the school last May, Mr. Boblios kindly signified bis intention of providing annually tivo prizes of $10 oach to be awarded for the best componi | ans on a unbject chosan by the Inapactor ¤ Sahools. There has already been a mark- ed improvement in the ordinary exorciss of the class competing. As you have just seen, His Excellerey hue again bonoured with the gift of a very haulsome prizo, this timen work baskot, which has bean awarded to the pupil whe most dialingaished bors-lf in neodle-work. We also desire to tonder our hearty thanks to the various gentlemen who so kindly furnished the funds for the remaining prizes, and whose names are too namerons to mention here. Belolarships, which take the form of one year's free education, have this year been awarded to Lily Fok, Lo Lai Wak, Fang Fun Lia, Kwan Yin Yun, and Chaa Be. In con. ulusion I have only to thank the various members of the staff, who have so hormoniously and donscientiously co-operated with ge during the past eight months. Holidays for Chinese Now Year will be from now til Monday, 4th March.

Mrs, Irving was then made the recipient of a handsome basket of ferns, and is return- ing thanks for same remarked that it bad afforded hor great pleasure to present the prize. She was sure all present had enjoyed the programme of music provided, and as for the action song by the little Chituse girls, "the washerwoman and the ohiokes," it was simply fascinating, and no drubi all would have liked to hear it satural times. The report disclosed amunt matisfactory state of affairs, and the speaker sangratulated the girl who had won His Excellency's spreial prics for Lygiene.
