· The local engineer Chan Lun Ta! entered into a contract with the biness Government rome two years ago for the reclamation of the Ho Pak new band and is said to have received from the Bin Hau Kuk from time to time con biderable sums of money amounting to 200,000- tools on account of work done and materials supplied. Recently Viceroy Chou Fu and Shen Totai went personally and inspected the reclamation works. Viceroy Chou Fu hoe received a copy of the new Press Laws from Peking, His Excellency sent a copy of it to the Nam Hoi agistrate. Yesterday the magistrale invited the editors of the local press, who called at the magistracy and were requested to affix their signatures to the document in acknowledgment that the laws are onforced. The interview lasted over an hour, during which the magistrate suggested to the members of the press that they should establish a public boll where meatings could be held to investigate press faire. They should also communicate regularly with the conrisercial and fabour societies abroad so as to suceriais the treatment of the Chinese by foreigners.
