A DANGEROUS PRACTICE,
Constable Burrie charged the owner of the stean launch Cheung On with permitting his vessel to be plied in the harbour without having a certificated coxswain at the whoal; also with not having his licence in a conspicuous place.

The facts of the case, as outlined by Mr. Hoggarth, the Chief Exelso Ofear, showed that a simultaneous raid was made by a squad of polico under Constable Munday and a number of Excise fleurs under their Cuiet on Nos. 10, Kennedytows, Prays, and 560. Des Voeux Road West, on the 14th instant, when 496 tins of opinn were recovered, besides other parapher nulia; the three defendants were also arrested.
After bearing the evidence his Worship found the defendants guilty fined the first $100 or two months' imprisonment; bound the second over in the sum of $100 to come up for judgment when called upon, and wetenced the third defendant, the accountant, two months" herd labour without the option of a fine.
