Angier'a Emulsion is better than Cod-liver Oil because it is pleasant to take, agrees with the most delicate stomach and aids digestion

stead of disturbing it. It is better, too, because it has healing

and curative virtues which Cod-liver Oil does not possess, and which make it of far greater efficacy in the treatment of lung affections and wasting diseases, and for building up the system after fevers or any serious illness.

Angier’s Emulsion

(PETROLEUM WITH HYPOPHOSPHITES)

Angier's Emulsion is at once a healing remedy, au aid to nutrition and a powerful tonic.. In it we secure the healing, curative properties of our specially purified petroleum, combined with the tonic properties of the hypophosphites of Lime and Soda. It is a perfect Emulsion, alnirst like cream, and is pleasant to take either alone or in any agree ble bevriage Angier's Emulsion is prescribed by the mediend profession throughout the entire English-speaking world, and is largely used in the hospitals. As petroleum is not animal oil, it is acceptable to all castes Furthermore, in its preparation the

view,

Like the house, the uational costume is of uniform design, differing only in material and colour-white cotton ond linen for the people. violet or white silk for the nobles and officials. The dross consists of a voluminous pair of trousers braced under the armpits, with two or ors robes reaching to the ankles, socks of thickly wadded cotton, stran andals or wooden clogs like the French gshots for the lower classes, shoes with leather lining and cloth, uppers for the gentry. The outer robe, not worn by bachelors, has very large glooves re- sembling the Japanese kimono. The women wear full white trousers. looking like divided skirts, and over them a very wide white kirtle, kilted above into a broad band. In summer à erino-line-frame of wickerwork is worn for cooliees under the robes on armi, back, and cheat. The crowning glory is the mon's hat, which is not unlike an inverted flower-pot with broad straight brims about two feet across, and peak six inches high, made of horsehair or finely plaited bamboo, stained black and tied with bands under the chin. Still more wonder- ful is the mourner's headgear, in shape like huge toadstools, made of uncoloured bamboo-strips, and large enough to completely hide the face.

The staple food is dried fish with beef, pork, game, rice, beans, and a fermented mess called-- Finchi, which emolls so strongly that no Eure- bean has got ventured to taste it. Altogether The natives are coarse feeders, to whom little comes amiss, the menu including even dogs, cats, weasels, crows, and bard boiled bigh eggs. The faculty of veneration is but slightly developed, and since the rejection of Buddhism some centuries ago the Coreana may be called decidedly irreligious. The moral code of Con- fucius is the only guide of the educated, whils the masses have reverted to the animism, the reverence for the dead, and the Shamanistic practices of their forefathers. It is curious to see the children kicking about statuettes of Buddha and the gods on the highways, just ak "Bony" was treated in England during and | long after the Napoleonic ware.

or

Even marriage is shorn of all religious riles. The whole business is settled beforehand by the eldera, and the bridegroom never sees his bride | till the wedding-day, when he arrives at her house on a white pouy and produces a goose- emblem of fidelity for bor acceptance. Then | the two how to each other three or four times nearly down to the ground, and that is all. A loving cup is passed round to the assembled guests, who make morry a little while, and no depart. In Corea nobody ever die. All are killed off either by the smallpox devil, the typlus deyil, or the cholera devil, else by the machinations of wicked wizards and witches who abound.fter death, one or other of these devils mig again enter the body and revive is to kill others, they are seared off by the vigorous beating of gongs, drums, pete, and cats, which is kept up incessantly for three days and nights. Then the socheayer is consulted on the most propitions site for the grave, which is usually Bituated on the sunny slope of a hill whither all good indusness are wafted on the balmy southern Hore, as in the West, the horseshoe is breeze. incky, and so the family vaults of the upper classes are sheltered from evil spirits by horno- shu-shaped mounds turned northwards that is, towards the quafter whence came the wicked devils riding on the icy arctic blasts.
