This would exactly imitate the growth and budding of living yeast celle, and would continue as long as the radium emitted emanation.

Nearly puro metallic barium has been obtained by M. Guutz by heating electrically a barium amalgam--first in 20 atmosphere of hydrogen under pressure and then is a vacuam over a mercury phap. The metal obtained has about 2 per cent of iron and mercury as impurity. The purest specimen contained 98.35 per cent of barium and has a greyish color somewhat like that of lead It

boiling at 1150 degree molts at 350 degres C., It is readily attacked by water and alcohol, and ia a molten state it dissolves most metals easily.
