SALVAGE CLAIM SEQUEL.

STRANGE INCIDENT AT FOSAN.

In July last the Norwegian whaler Olga picked up an open cargo boat, not far from Fasan, which had been abandoned during heavy weather, and towed her into the Corean port As the owners did not appear willing to sattle the salvage on the usual terms, the agents of the Olge placed the cargo boat in charge of the Costons, and during a typhoon that occurred in August she broke away and went sabere at Deer Island, being again recovered and moored near the Custom House. On the 28th September at about 4 am, the boat was boarded by a gang of men bringing their own stores and provisions, sail was set, and the vessel was under weigh before her remoral was discovered When the occurrence became known, the police and Customs lannoboa started in pursuit bat! were unable to vontare far outside the harbour and the prize escaped. The rautter was reported to the Japanese Couval at Fassa and by him to the local Governments in Japan, but as far as we can learn, the cargo boat is now lying at Moji without any action having been taken by the police to arrest those who are responsible for this novel method of settling salvage olaims.
