SHIP'S PAPERS FOUND.
BOTUG
Papers meant for destruction should not be cast open the waters, certainly, but also those who find them should not immediately jump ut the worst. The Japan Chronicle says: "We reported that some ship's papers, belonging to the Kanagawa-nar, which left Yokohama for Seattle on the 19th May, had been picked up by fishermen off Yokosuke. and that anxiety for the safety of the liner had been. caused in consequence. In regard to this report; Mr. 3. Dick informs us that when is the early seventies he was in the Japanese Government's lighthouse service, and stationed at Sagami, be frequently picked up on the bundles of old ship's papers, chita, &, which had been thrown overboard. It is, therefore, evidently the practice, to throw old papers overboard, bat, "obriously a much better way of getting rid of this lumber would be to burn it, for, ea in the case of the Kanayaa-mara, wher it is picked up at saa, it gives rise to really unfounded fears.
