Mr. Gill-Had you any bostile feeling to- ward Captain Fraser?

Witness-Certainly not.

Mr. Justice Darling-You advised tim to re- main in a very dangerous profession (Laughter.) Mr. Bankes-Did you tell Captain Fraser you objected to a dialect part?

Witness.-I do not think so. What I felt was that I did not want to boa Chiusman again. I have been four years with a pigtail on, end did not want it any more. (Laughter.)

Further cross-examined, witness said that bis interview with Captain Fraser, when the part of Chota Khaw was discussed, was much broken, and he was very vagua abant it, but if be had heard the term "pidgin English" it would have frightened him out of his life. (Laughter.)

There was nothing original in the plaintiff's play except the baby, und Mr. Edwardes bad said that a baby was his bete noire. (Laughter.) Kr. Justice Darling. And in this case, Mr. Brookfield, the baby was really a béle noire. (Renewed laughter.)

Mr. Justice Darling-Do you think that a person taking tickets for the play would mind whether the scene was laid in Kashmir or Ceylon?

Witness--Well, it is a fact that Indian plays

have not been soocakaful.
