THE COMMODORE'S CUT-21st JANUARY. To-day was sailed the grant event of the Hong- kong Yacht Club seuson, viz. the Commodore's Cap.
for which the Commodoro, the Hon. Mr. F. H. May, prosented three handsome prizes. The wind was blowing from the southward over the island, and as is usually the case when blowing from that direction, it was very squally and fitful. At times the tops were being blown off the waves, end at other times the flattest of calmas prevailed. In one of these calm patches the Kathleen Carnod, right round as if she wanted to go home.

The wind was light at the start, and further east calm patches were scattered over the harbour, through which the yaubts had to pass. A lovel start was made, Min and Bonita dightly in advance of the other two. Bonito slipped away in the run, but came back to the others in a calm near the markbout. Gybing round all four stood over to Channel Rock, Bonito GILLANDERE and Min reaching away ahead, and Colleen pul- ling up on Kathleen. Mr.Buiilios has a great task in front of him, but he is approaching it in the right spirit. He is entering a battle in which much honour may be won; and we believe that whatever be the result of the next contest, at least we shall not be able to say of him that he had not strained every nerve, used every endeavour, and utilised every influence, to recapture for the Conservative Party the West Newington Par liamentary seat.
Mr. Bulilios is an active Mason, and member of the Empire Lodge (into which he received the benets of admission at the hands of the Japanese Ambassador) and Chapter. He is, of course, a supporter of the Masonic ohurities.
Mrs. R. B. Belilius (who intends to actively work in her husband's cause, lest anyone should think she has hereditary Radical instincts) is a daughter of Mr. Israel Hart, a Radical who has contested for his party Hackney and the Hythe Division of Kent:
