On 110 inet, in the Osaka Chiho Sail ansio, before Judge Yamagishi, presiding, and two Associate Judges, an action was commenced in which the Osaka Shosen Kaisha are sued by the family of the late Itor. H. G. Appenandtor, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. The claim of plaintiffs is for damages amounting to $5.42 in 0.8. gold, with interest from July Oth lust to the ex-cution of judgment.

The ground of claim given in the petition is thus stated. The Rer, H. G. Appenzeller left Chenedpo on Juve 11th, 1902, by the O.SK [2050 Kimagane-maru for Mokyo. On the voyage at 10 o'clock in the evening of the same day the steamer came into collision with the Kienguen-sarv, olas belonging to the 0.8.K. The when the Kanagawa-inavu was' sunk. missionary was drowned, and his body was not recovered. Decoused was in the employ of the Methodist Mission, receiving a salary of $1,650 (gold) atonally, on which his family, As now the plaintiffs, had been subsisting. deceased had served seventeen yours n missionary he was in a position to claim an increase of sultry and was entitled to a pension;
