Recent remarkable effects of lightning on the bridge of the "Galicia," of the Handburg- American line, hava opened a new investigation. Comediately after a brilliant flash the second officer was surprised to find an imprint of his hand on cabinet on the bridge, and was farther amazed to see the sillorette persist as much as five minutes. Experimenting a little, he obtained a shadowgraph of his observation instrument and one of a life preservec, such details being brought out on the ship's paint as the cross-lines on the instrument's objective and the lettering on the life-preserver.
