The question whether the Government should ke any steps with a view to this colony king officially represented at the exhibition has been discussed by my Committee and they desire m to inform you that in their opinion it is not 1.20 necessary for the Government to go to any expense in the matter. The 8.3. Taiping arrived from Chinking yesterday. Out of 1.300 tons of cargo on board 200 tons is for Hongkong.

The 8.5. En Luyken arrived from Hongay yesterday with 2.000 tons of coal for tuo Bast Asiatic Trading Company.

The 8.8. fait Diederichsen arrived from Haiphong and Heihow yesterday with 800 tons of cargo for Messi, Jebsen & Co.

The s.s. Weoreth arrived from Barry yeator- day with 4,800 tons of cargo for Messrs. Dodwell & Co.
