IMPERIAL MARITINE CUSTOMS NOTIFICATION.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Kongmoon having been declared a'Trosty Port, and the Provisional Regulations of Trade on the West River of 1897 being under revision, the following provisional rules will govern steamer trafe on the West kiver until further netice :-
The 1897 Regulations remain in force where not affectail by the provisional rules now publisind.
Shipment and discharge of goods and pas sengers will be allowed, in addition to Treaty Ports, at the following six Stages or Ports of Call:
Kumohuk, Paktauhan, Shinbing, Lotingtau, Takhing and Dosing, and steaman may land. and ship passengers and their luggage at any of the following tea regular passager stations:
Yungki (in Taitung Clausel), Mahning in Junction Channel), Kaukong, Külow, Wingon, Howlik, Lukpt. Yuetsing, Lukto, and Fungchnen (in West River). Passengers luggage mast not contain articles subject to duty, and the presence of dutiable articles will render the whole able to confis estion.
Steamers are divided into two classes:
1. Local River Steamers running from Can. ten or Kongmoon to ports up river without Jearing Liang Kwang waters.
2. Foreign-going Steamers from and to Hoogkung, Mucao, etc., trading for the voyage up and down river.
LOCAL RIVER STEAMERS will deposit their registers with their Consul or (if Consular- ly unrepresented) with the Customs at Carton or Kongmoos, where the Customs, in addition to inspection or issue of the Arms Certificate, will i800 Certificate to the steamer
to be called the RIVER PASS valid for the year during which issued, on expiry of which it must be either surrendered or renewed at Canton or Kongmoon,
FOREIGN GOING STEAMERS WH enter the West River sither via Kongmoon or vie Canton. If entering via Kongmoon they will take the Motomoon (Broadway) toate and roport at the Mongelus (Lappa Custorus) Station, to comply with the requirements of previous regulations including issue or inspec tica of Arms Certifionte, and take out the KONGMOON PASS. They will then proceed direct to Kongmoon whore, if bound further up the West atirar, they will surrender the said Pass to the Konginoon Customs, and deposit their Rogistars with their Consui or (if Coa, sularly unrepresented, with the Customs, and receive a Certificate to be called the SPECIAL RIVER PASS, without which they may not trade at any Treaty Port, Port of Call or Tax. senger Station. DUTY TREATMENT. Cargo arriving from a Foreign Port (s) for a Treaty Port pays Import Daty ut Port of discharge, (b) for a Port of Call is to be reported at firet Treaty Port, Kongmoon or Canton, and pay Import Duty there.
