It must not be forgotten that the Near and Far Easts have a common connection, A rapprochement between Russia and Germany for action in the Near and Far Easts would only be to the detriment of England, as the Japanese papers point out, but the interests of Russian and British Governments now coincide on many points not only is the Far East but

On 23rd November, the hearing was begun of appeals by the Crown against two decisions of the Land Court. In one Lam Tseung Fuk and Lam Tak Luk claimed a traet of foreshore and sea-hol axtending from the old boundary front of Kowloon City and thinway, and com. plately blocking nooss to the sos orer that of British Kowloon for a distance 12 miles in
distance. In the other Ho Lap Hun claimed 621 now of land extending from Kowloon City to Lysomun for about 23 miles along the shore. The case of Lam Teenug Fak and Lam Tak Luh was first called. Mr. M. W. Slade, barris- tor-at-law (instructed by Mr. F. B. Descon, of Messrs. Deacon and Hastings, solicitors), ap- peared, first, for two parties who were applying respondente to be joined to the proceedings nu who claimed to have an interest in it us Aaving purobased the land. After hearing counsel their Lordships dismissed the applica tion with coste.
Subsequently there was led a petition for leave to appeal to the Privy Council against the decision of the Court.
