SPORTING NOTES.
It is very much to bo regretted that the Garrison to-day has to meet the Club without the services of Lieut. Lumsden, B.A, who is Hie absence still aid ap with his bad knee. wust of course make a tremendous difference to his sile, eren though it is otherwise very strongly represented. The military bowling xemel good tu the R.A. v. Rest of Garrison
match on Thursday, and, there are some very seful hate. The Club, with six interport players and a reserve, appears to have an ad patriage, but there is a distinct tail to the iwaw. Of bowling thors is no lack, and varied bowling too. With Lamsden playing the game should have been a very close thing, but I shall be much surprised if the Club does not pull through today, in his absence, All cricketers must wish bim à speedy recovery, for such uricket as his is a great attraction in any match, and be has not been seen la the fold since his return from Shanghai. Iu faot there has bean r dearth of the best kind of cricket since the great Interport contest. There seems to have born's reaction after the excitement. Fortunately Happy Valley cricket has not shared the 'san Isle.

NOTES FROM THE BOPANIC GARDENS.
“Just nine years, aga sexls of Tichonia diversifolia were received from the Botanic Gardens, Coylon, from which several plants ware raised. These flowered in the following November and afterwards perfected sand The plants are pereunjal, but if seedlings bɔ raised anually they flower in less than a year from the time of sowing. There are suverai aposimens in the shrabberies in both the old and the new gardens, and specimens may aaw be met with in various other gardens in the colony. The apocivs grows to a height of 8 or 9ft, nud as The many feet through. The firwer-bowls, which are yellow and for inches seross, era produced, at the ends of the branches, and bush in full flower makes a very pleasing sight. The species like most other mombora of the geaus, is a native of Mezic and belongs to that very large family of plants, Composite.

The Cantou. Regatia has been fixed for the 18th and 19th December. In the International Fours British and German grows will compete The latter are at present favourites, as they have been at work for nearly two months, while the British crew is only now getting together. A sup has been preauted to the Rowing Club by the Imperial Maritime Customs staff, and this will probably be the annual prize of the winners in the International Race. There will be several scratch four races, besidea pairs, to be competed for by the hongs and other offices A challenge has been isnod by German gentleman for competitors in a sculling race, and this event should prove interesting. Al- together great credit is dus to the committee of the Canton Rowing Club, for their energy in getting up this regatta. It is interesting.to note that it is by yo means the first bald bere; as far back as the 'Forties there is a record of one such meeting. ·
The Hockey Club played a game on Wednes. day against the 110th Mahratts (the old 10t Bombays, who were so strong lost season), and suffered an easy defeat by 6 goals to 1, Although it must be pleaded for the Club that they lacked the services of two of their best forwards, Hooper and Dartnell, both on the sick list, there can be no doubt that the military ropresentatives (mostly natives) were by far the stronger combination, and they stand a very good chance indeed for the Cup this's east. Their captain, Lieut. Heath, is probably the best centre forward here, and he helped himsel to 3 of their goals. The only Club goal was notched by Capt. Duties, A:0.D, who is decided acquisition to the club's forward rank. Parker, who played goal, is such a good half. that it seems a pity to play him in goal, but he

The agonizing itching and burning of the skin, as in Eczema; the frightful' scallag, as in psoriasis the loss of lindr and crusting of the scalp, as in scalled head; the facial disfigurements, as in acno and ringworm; the awful saber- ing of infants, and anxiety of worn- out parents, as in milk orast, tetter and. salt rheum, all demand a remedy of almost superhamnan virtues to succoss- fully cope with them. That Catfcuro Bonp, Ointment and Resolvent are euch stands proven beyond all doubt. No. statement is made regarding them that is not justifled by the strongest evi- dence.
