AQUATIC ENTERTAINMENT
AT THE V. R. C.
Entertainments given under the suspices of tlo V.B.C, have always proved enjoyable functions, and that on Saturday afternoon at the Club'a anglosure in Kowinou standa, wall ́in line with othors that have preceded it. The weather was most appropriate, and with no
excuse to stay indoore spectators attended in great numbers, the ladies especially responding generously to the invitation of the Committee to b pregunt. Iolleod, so hearty was the response that the accommodation of the temporary stand was fully tazel, which fast should be a useful guide to the committee making arrangements inconnection with the forthcoming annualsports, when the attendance is sure to be oven larger and probably will be limited only by the accommoda tion available. Viewed from the roadway, the stand on Saturday, presented one of the prettiest scenes the oys could well dwell on, the variety and combination of beautiful colours in dresses making a Aus kulekloscopio picture. Creature comforts had been adequately considered by thoughtful committee-men, aud with a caplial programme of sports nothing more was wanted from the spectaculer aspect, to complete the pleasure of the afternoon.

Before looking at the actual figures, there are two circumstances that need to be mentioned, and for which due allowance mat be made (1) The treatment with arbolic acid was commenced late in the epidemie, at a stage when
there is a grasler untural tendency to recovery, the disease being invariably more viralout early in the senENT.
