NOTES FROM THE BOTANIC GARDENS.

The fountain this week prevents the rare sight of Eichhernia speciosa in dovor. It is a native of the warna Ingoons of Brazil and is much cultivated in Europeas gardons though, very seldom lowering. This is one of the many interesting noveltima obtained by Lady Blake from Chinese cultivators and presenter to the Botanic Gardens. If, as we understand, it esme from Canton it would be interesting to know how the plant reached China from Brazil. There are several plants of Plumbago coperis in dower in different parts of the gardens. The colour of the flowers is rather uncraumou, being a pleasing, light shade of bino. There are two bushes near the large Royal Palm is the new garden and several others on the banks below the rain-gauge. Though no African plant, it is clearly well adapted for our climate, for the flowers are produced in the greatest profusion. It is abs old favourite in Fagland as it has been in cultivation since 1818. The Coral tree, Erythrina Crista-galli, makos 5 brilliant show at this tims of the year.
