But he has already compiled nineteen tros-figure innings for his natir shies and is the only Lucastrian born who has over rade 500 Old Trafford or scored 3,10) in any one season. Now, I cannot understand the sport-loving people of the Duchy of Lancaster allowing Tyldesley to compile 3,041 runs in the season of 1911 without showing some marks of their appreciation of the feat. We have seen a gold watch and chain and other presentations made to Warwickshire and Leicestershirə-born men who scored 1,000 for the first find in the anois of these shiras, but Tyldesley aur Rocompilah thrice as much and in phlegmatic Manchester no one as much as suggests that such a triumph should be acknowledged. I suppose his 139 for Rugiend against Australia will pass as ati- unticed. But he is the Abel of the North with youth on his side, and a rare bateman with plenty of pluck and pouching power. When he is once set no man in England is effective in his lightning cuts and is his drives just out of the reach of cover-polut These are his main means of scoring on a fast wicket.
