London has undergone within living memory. Buildings which were very familiar to every | 1383) Londoner have disappeared or are doomed, und for more than half its length the best known thronghfare in the world loses its familiar angel. Starting close by the Law Courts, the roadway to the north of the Church of St. Clement's Danes has been increased to more than twice its former width. This has been offcted by taking a considerable portion of the churchyar into the road, and a very great number of human remainshave been removed to Woking Cemetery. Between Holywell Street and the Strand there were formerly two rows of shops facing to each of the thoughfares respectively. The one front- ing the Strand has now attirely disappeared, and though Holywell Street itself still remains practically intuet, ultimately the whole of the shops on its south side will disappear. Wych Street, the fashionable thoroughfare of threa hundred years agy is also doomed.
