Tho British steamor Airlic, from Sydney 18th October, Brisbane 40th, Townsville 23zd, Cairns and Cooktown 24th, Thursday Island 26th, Port Darwin 30th and Manila 7th Nov, experienced moderate to fresh northerly winds from Sydney to Thursday Island; thence to Basilan Straits light variable winds and fine Weather; thence to Manila very strong N.W. winds, squally with rain, and head sea; thence to port S.E. gule and high confused sea, the wind eventually hauling round S.W.. the ship being in the vicinity of the typhoon which passed over Hongkong.

The British steamer Sobrann, from London 4th October and Singapore 4th November, ex- pórienced N.W. winds and fine weather till off the Perucels, when the wind hauled to the north, Steamed blowing in fiercer squalls and every indication of a typhoon to the northward. south till the wind hauled west, then steered for Hongkong, stopping, and steering to the south Ex. as the ship approached the typhoon. periencca a fresh gale with hard squalls and blinding rain with a heavy confused swell from the N.E. and N.W. The ship behaved most splendidly, no damage being done. The weather cleared this morning when about 40 south of Gup Rock, and continued to improve till arrival.
