Vessels coming through the North Channel from the eastward may, after passing the Lin- china Lighthouse, keep the Tsungning showe about one mile distant till the East Eutrance Buoy is sighted, when they should steer to pass it at one cable on the port hand. Para fhe other three bors at one cable on the port Land and stand over towards the right or south-western link of the Yangtze till in about mid-channel. whether bound up or down the river.

The soundings over the shader purt of the erossing, on the track shore indicated. vary from 30 feet to 20 feet the least depth found,| which is in the vicinity of the Second Crossing Buoy,
