After paying running expenses, salaries, pre mia of insurance, repairs and all other out- golugs, there remains, including $54,648.688-Sur G. W. Andrews, brought forward from last account, the vam of Mrs. O, W. Anderw and $179,088.41 at oredit of profit and loss count children From this amonɔt the directors recommend that a dividend for the half-year of B per cent on capital, or $96,900, be paid to shareholders, and that 5 per cent or $39,875, be written of the book value of sinners and lawiches, leaving a balance of $43,218.41 to be carried forward to now necount.

The steamors earnings as compared with those of the corraponding six months of the previons year show a falling off. This is, in a great race sure, neconstel for by the mosatisfactory stato of affairs on the Weet River, the working of this branch of the Company's business baring resulted in a loss.

During the half-year the Herngshan: bas undergous the usual annual repairs and docking ander Government surrey, and the Pewan is now laid up to receive new boilers and for s genarul overhaul, the cost of which will be met by the sun which it is proposed to carey forward.

The White Cloud has been sold, and the loss on her book value, amounting to $7.637.50, ja provided for in the accounts now presented. To taks the place of this atomer on the Canton Macao Line, the Lungshan was with draws from the West River service, and the Funghiang is tlao ruzning temporarily on the

The Properties mortgaged to the Company have been revalued by Messrs. Palmer and Targer, whoss valuations show them to be ample security for the smos advanced. The value of the Company's forestments in sharos tas boso adjusted to figures well within present market rufas, the difference being passed to the credit of investment fluctuation account
