Commodities ar measured in rupees, and rupees represent, not the given amount of silver they con kain, which is worth less than a shilling but the fifteenth part of a pound sterling, or ons shilling and fourpence. Commodities therefore are in efoot measured in gold. So in China, when the conversion takes place commodities will continue to be measured in teels or dollars, but the tool or dollar will no longer represent only the value of the AERATED WATERS.silver it contains, but a certain part of a pound sterling. And the sooner the capver sion comes the butter will it be for China both politically and commercially and for the foreign merchants engaged in trade with that country. It issue, se Mr. Gray anys, that for some time past the China exchange has been almost as steady as thigt of Indin, but in the nature of things that cannot coutinie. The price of silver muay rise, or it many fall, but there are certain to be fluctuations in the future, as there have been in the past, and a rice is in the long run na prajuficial to trade as a fall. What trade requires is stability of exchange, abd, bimetallism being now unfortunately out of The PRICES are only half those court, it is only by the adoption of the gold charged in England.
