In the terms of the now Agreement, Great Britain retains Bahrel Ghazal and Darfur, whilst France takes Wadai, Bagiemi, and the territory to the east and north of Lake Chad Great Britain also re- Mr. Ed. In the course of a debate in the House of Commous on slavery in Zanzibar, Mr. Brodrick said that the Government was bound to main tain its pledge to respant the law of Islam, and it would be foolhardy at present to dislocate the labour market on the mainland by a general manamission; but the Government had directed that no British official should assist in sending alates back to bondage.
