The way in which wed up can be cop verted into silk yarn will be best explained by a brief account of the process as it is already at work at Besancom. A certain economy of labour is practised by obtaining the wood when it is in its "paper" or "cardboard condition (though waste cotton misy also be used, and the first operation is to macerato it in a solution of nitrio and salphuric acid.
