THE TRADE OF MACAO. Mr. H. B. Joly writes the British Congdier Report on the trade of Masso for the year 1891, which Mr. Watiera forwards. Mr. Joly myjame The year 1891 het hann, so far as trade is nomseroed, a very unovantfal ons, business hay- ing continued in the same grove, proinmably with name falling off, an the export of ton and rice was below former year. also exported in's grade state. Into Chinese H. & C. Bakery territory. The opium imported consists of In-Hongkong & C. Est. dian opium, very little, if any, of the native Bongbong Electric... grown-inds its way as yot here.

Ju Cotton Pisse Gooda fair business was done, bat the low exchangs must have affected the profite to a considerable degros.

Kerorine-The quality imported during 1601 exceeded that of 1890, so that its a yearly becoming more general. The great re dration is prices of late has extended its acon=" Bumption bere and its distribution inland, as it brings it, in fact, within the ranch of even the Lower Masses. who would otherwise barn, the natīva olla ne illuminants.

Flour continues an important item of import; test of it originatos from Amerias, sad`vory little, if any, from Canada, although with a little paun a fair market might be found here.

Stall was carried over in largs shipments by vo- eneimmel steamers specially obactered, as well as ..by the daily steamer.

The Other Imports, consisting of everything necessary for daily wants and consnmption, have stadily contidas to enter the part in Hong. kong, which is prastically the feeder of this nolony.

BIPUŽTA.

Tea-Tea appears from year to year to lɔxa grond and to feel more and mars the compati- tion from India and Coylan. Lower prices than heretofore rated daring the last year, but none the lose, o grant profils seem to have been malined Indned, besriy bandicapped as the to exported from Macso are not by detie here, as th's colony is a free port, bat by in- land impoate levied by the Chinese authorities, they can with difloslty hold their own, and would ass to Le doomed to a heary shrinkage. The quantity exported daring 1891 amourte to abeat 155,000 chests, and falls short of that of 1890, so that this branch of trade, which was once the most important here, gradually booomes more and more irriga ficant.

Silk-The quality of the silk shipped at year w if anything, better than in previous Jears, more especially the later shipments The number of bales of fitatures exported were 365, mcetly to yous, and wearly 250 belas of waste silk to London.

The Other Exports, consisting of cement, essential oils. foligo, feathers, eoy, and rice were shipped in quantities avstaging those of 1890, with the exception of rice, which was in 1891 for below what was shipped in the ostrae of the preceding your. The demand for cent mann factured here seems to be on the increase, com bining as it does good quality se weil na com parative cheapness.

SHIPPING.

The native craft have done, as usual, good business. As regards staaters; the regular boat plied between Bergkeng and Maono daily, but on the Csaton line only one steamer ren turing the latter part of the year in the absence safciens profits and inducements. In fact, the trade between this colony and Clanton is vary unimportant. Outside steamers were limit ad to a few small vessels with cargoes of salt, and to two vessele of larger sisa Bat most of le have bad to Ife in the roadstead, as no dredging operations have been commenced yet to improve the harbour and its approaches.
