SECOND DAT, 20th December. Fine weather favoared the second day of the Regatta, although there was rather & freak wind and the we was somewhat lampy. The attendance bafb on the flagship and on private launches appeared to be quite equal to the first day and thu roing, was such that the Begatta of 1889 should take a very good place in Tural aquatic records. The race in which ziurally Finos" interest centred was the International. Unfortunately this year the entries were fewer than ever, an English and a Scotch boat being the only two which came to the scratch. After yesterday'e form au the part of some of the lead- ing members of the English grew, a vistory for Sortland, seemed almost a certainty, and the win of the English crew came us a ¿urprise even to thos who had booked their boat. It is only justice, however, to add that more than once the Sontoh crew seemed to have the rucs in band: Master sod his crow are therefore the more to be enm- plimented for the plucky manner in which they pulled, off the race. The Junior Scals were carried off by Fredericks, who deservedly won K good race. The Garrison Cup, as was exported, fell to the Shamrock, the Military orów, al though the Naval crew made a good rice for the Hext place, and the. Victoris, stroked by Master, seemed at one time to have a gool | chance of winzing till the erratic-steering of { their cox put thom entirely out of the race The American cup, one if the best-contested and best-timed races of the Regatta, was won |æfter a bacl fight by the Thistle, the Look und Be Kornblume holding her almost to the last,

It was our duty yesterday to slide to the manner in which launakrs crowded on the coarse, sad therefore it is only right to re- cord that on the second day the course was tent in such a manner as to leave no trou for censure and it is only to be hoped that the same food order may be observed in future Regattas without the painful maccacity of calling such
