The annual table of shipments of cotton to Europe by Bombay frins in the year ending 30th Juus last, shows the receipts were the largest evet recorded, numbering 1,831,000 bxles. The sz- ports, though 393,000 bales larger then in the pre- vious twelfs months, are somewhat emailer than in 1983-84 and the previous year, and 233,000 bales nador 1881-82, the year in which the ship- ments exceeded any previons or absequent twelve months. The requirements of the local
mills accuunt for the falling off in shipmonte, for while in 1881-82 they sonsumed but 277,000 balos, in the season just closed more than double that quantity was consumed.
