Tho English divors and Captain E. P. Stores, Lloyd's Buryoger, have returned from Graad Coasty after raising a sum of no less than £90.000. The amenut was lying buried 158 Foot doop abent a mile from the southernmost mit of the island. It went down about two yoare ago in the steamer Alphonso XII The steamer and on board £100,000 worth of Spaakin dollars pa their way to Cula They were $5 gold | ON pisces, and were specially coined for the trip, being the saly 35 picsea bearing the year 388 The insurance on the money was effected at -Lloyd's, and was paid over to the insurers after the Tassel foundered. ́After a lopen of ovar B Fuar Captain R. F. Stevens aud three English divers were sent out to try and recover the sankon treasure. They succeeded in bringing ag uine boxes containing specie of the value of £10,000 sach, Eat the tenth box could not be found, and the divers had to come away without
it.
At a meeting of the Society of Cyalists a
paper was read by Mr. Wynter Blythe, the
secretary, which was written by Mr. Edwin Chadwick, C.B, on "The Tricycle for the Polico." Mr. Chadwick said that his interest in the police was first expressed in the reign of William IV. and be had watched the progress of the force from then to the present time with great interest. There was no doubt that the in- vention of the tricycle osme oppertunely to'aid the polian force of the present day in patrolling Le Suburbs of groat to vas. Es recommend. ad that in the out-districts of the metropolis tandems should be tairodived carrying two sem- ad constables. Their lamps pald be most useful in searching dark couria or the shrubberies round isolated houses, and, further, no burglars, however swift their hores and trap, could escape
from the pursuit of a tandem tricycle. Mr. Chadwick's mazgastion was warmly approved.

Five little boys who were reminded at Dan stable on a charge of stealing from shop doors bave had an extraordinary capade. It seemed that the person who had supplied the lads with dinner had by mistake left the key in the dom of the call, and the youngest boy, who is very small and thin managed to aquesss himself through the aperture by which fund is handed to prisoners, and thon unlocked the door for his companions Their escape was quite unnoticed, and was not discovered until some time afterwards. When it was found that they had deosmped' Scperintendent George drove off in a conveyance in the direction of St. Albans, while two over officers and a cember of the local Volautuans dispersed in variona directions in search of the raaswaYN Meanwhile the boys had made their way ta Skinpol Farm, just outside the towo. Hare they observed a number of fowls running abent, and catching one they wrong its neck, and took -itta tho mistress in the formhouse, informing her they found it on the railway run over bo à train. Praising their honesty and believing their tale, the woman regaled the young koupe- graces with tea, and presented them with Öd. They then proceeded in thedirection of Houghton Regis, but near that place they were observed by Polioc sergeant Addington, who chased themfora consi- derable distanca till he lost sight of them in Chil- torn-road.. The Jada, determined not to bacanght, quietly returned to town, and the surprise of the superintendent's wife may be imagined when, on answering a konak st the station door, shefound 13 the runaways before her. They told her that they hul been "ont for eun, and had come brok to tea When her husband returned late In the opening he was not a little astonished to hear that the boys of whom he had been in quest were "at home," and had been in bed for hours.
