upon from other sironmstañosa. Therefore at the time the reasole wore drawing near exch other they were making proparutionson board for coming to an anchor. To evidence showed that the lookont man had been taken from his postand a mea was cont to the gangway to pass the orders aft, which would indinata that ordara were expected to be passed in quick succession. The conseqnance was that there was no man whose duty it was to keep a lookoat, for which the captain rolled entirely upon himself. He kad soon a vonzol pass to sterboard, and he west to look at the chart, and be usver noticed a vessel coming up on the port side. When the captalu saw this vessel close to him, he wis thus. takon by surprise, and sooing her red light he at one gave the order to port the beln, which would have been ordinarily the proper order. There has been great contradictions in this oaca, and his exporlenge of Admiralty cases in this coart had been that they wore like horsedest ing casse, which were always sail to be at home without honour or honesty. The Bpoir could never have been on the starboard bow of the Norden, she must always have been on her port bon, for he was in charge of an experienced pilot who was stearing oror the uscal conera by the lacdmarks. The Warden onuld not have bean in the position Mr. Adams gave her to bo in, for that would place her in acest dangerondy Bhool Hator and quite olese primity to out of hor onarie. It was not to be supposed that a pilot and officers of otporisnon would have put her into such a position. The story of the Epoir was therefore ridiculous in itself, and looked as if it were made for the purpose of this case. I was an extraordinary order for a naval offer to give which Mr. Adams said he gave to the men who wers smoking on the forecastle head-o keep a lookout for the approaching vos-Hongkong, Canton, and Macao Steamboat Co.'s sal's rel light. According to his own statement aho was green light to gresu light with him, they woro on parallel ecrans, and there was no danger of a collision at that time. Es sulaitzed that the whole story was anworthy for dondo, and would not bear comparison fus plain and simple account given by his auta. Ho naked the court with confitend decision in Favour of the Nordin.
The Aating Attorney-General said with refor. enos to the matter his Lordship had referred to, he was suthorised to say that this notion was de fondot and the conater claim enterod by the Admiralty, and it it was necessary to amend he
would ask tasve to do sa.
His Lordship sail he thought it was advisablo. Decision was then reserved.
