Five ponies started, for this event. 'Aftar ona false start, the ponies were despatched on their journey, Adventuror taking a strong land, with General second, and the favourite fourth. At the Monument Heuers! draw up on avon tortas with the leader, and at the same time Picarogs took forward position, and on entering the Straight went to the frant and won easily by three or four lengths Thors was a good race between Adventurer and General for second place, which was won by the termer by about half a length, Time, fuziu, 19.

The Steeplechase was the stone of the after- noon. The Grand Stan na crowded in every part, sud the utmost exeftament prevailed during the race. Eight ponies fartal, and the betting favoured our old Paper Hant pony, Astrologer, the next in demand baing Chatterbox and Earl Eric, and these three were fredly backed against the field. At the first stompf the panies got Amy Chatterbox outting out the running at a Tory, fast pace; all thu ponies pleared the water jump in good style.. At the first burdle the two leading pozies knooked down a hurdle and the other ponios quietly passed through. On thelower sida Farl Frio led, with Chatterbox in close at tendams, and Kabir third. At this point of the reco Astrologer did not appear to go in bismanal form, but as he warmed to his work he improved in pace, but he was act good vasugh to overtake the loading ponies. The result of the race was In favour of Eart Uria, winning easily, from Chatterbox, with Kabirabad third. The jump ing of the ponies was good throughout. There was no time taken. Nickelson's win wae very popular, and he was loudly shoørod.
