Tax Hon. Mr. Rowery lo putting bis ques- tion at the Legislative Council on Thursday, with reference to the action taken by the Cin vernmect concerning the swall-pox patients, performed a difficult and delicato task with such discrimination and good taste. The naportance of the subject was such that it could not be allowed to pass, but the recent sad death of the Colonial-Surgeon, which could not but be a subject of regret to all in the Colony, and with whose family all mnat feel the deepest sympathy, rendered it in some degree a painful task to allude! to 'a mattor in which the head medical officer of the Colony was, at least as far as the outside world could see, mainly concerned. The question, however, was put in a way which combined business-lite firmness with kindly and gentlemanly tact; and it is only dae to the Government of the Gelony to say that it was answered with commendable courtesy and frankbess.
