At an inquest held in bo rillage of Packte. church, near Bristol, some allegations of a seri 113 Despre were made against a pauedo medical man living in Bristol, and styling himself "Professor Eenry James." It seems that in the latter part of last month he was called in to see the wife of a coal miner in the village named Johnson, who had lean suffering for some years from heart diesase, and lately from dropsy ze woll. Being asked by the husbanā if he could eure his wife, James said he would tell him if his wite world consent to underge au operation. The patient consented, and the *professor "" had her stripped to the waist, und upplied on instrument erntaining about twenty sharp needles, and worked by means of an elastic spring to her back, from the loins to the shoulder blades, after which he applied some kind of oil to the punctures made in the Bash by the operation. A day or two afterwards thousands of pimples, like aua!! boils formed on to travelling trader. the woman's back and sides. From the time the operation was performed she grew worse, and died in air dare afterwards. Jsmen said that her beurt was "all right.” The post mortem examina. tion showed that the cause of death was pulmon- ary apoplary, consequent upon mitral heart di sease, and thethree medical men called unanim- ously expressed their opinion that the operation to which use had been subjected was an improper one, and accelerated her death.
