The scope of the work is so great, and its militarian purposes so complete, that re ference to its pages enables a person who understands English to communicate effectively with natives who understand nothing but Cl. neno. In this respect the work will be found indispensable to all Faropeans residing in Chins, and to the natives themselves it ex- plains subjects fally, with which very faw in- deed of them are partently acquainted.
