The P. & O. Company always jump from ova extreme to another. In former years they appeared perfectly careless as to the consumption of Coal; ni present they seem to consider that economy of fuel is the very first consideration. Weifunk that a middle course with more speed should be studied. 1f great cenemy of fuel be obtained by experimenta nad invention, private boats will undoubtedly be constincted to take Silk from Shanghui to Suez, whence there is now no difficulty in! having it conveyed to Europe.
