The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) collects information from authorized institutions under the Banking Ordinance about loans and advances in terms of total amount outstanding on a quarterly basis. Statistics related to individual transactions are not kept by the HKMA. The relevant information in respect of property-related lending by authorized institutions in 1996 is set out in the attached
table.
