Marine access in Siu A Chau
The Governor-in-Council has authorized to carry out reclamation within an area of about 1.57 hectares of foreshore and seabed at Sum Wan in Siu A Chau.
The reclamation is to provide a marine access to the Low-level Radioactive Waste Storage Facility (LRWF) which will be located on the western side of Sum Wan.
The reclamation comprises dredging of seabed and construction of seawalls, piers and slipways. The main permanent structure will be a three-metre wide and 85- metre long pier equipped with a lifting davit, navigation lighting and fire-fighting equipment.
An Environmental Impact and Safety Assessment (EISA) study on the proposed LRWF has been undertaken and concluded that any ecological impact of the LRWF would be localized and that the liquid and gaseous discharges, if any, would meet the established standards and dose limits for the public in terms of radiological impact.

Any person who considers that his interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and seabed involved will be injuriously affected by the work may deliver to the Director of Lands a written claim for compensation before March 27, 1998.
