New offices for Non-local Courses Registry

The Education Department's Non-local Higher and Professional Education Courses Registration Section will move into new offices this week.

From tomorrow (Tuesday), the Section will operate from new offices at Room 801, eighth floor, Tai Sang Commercial Building, 24-34 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong and be renamed as Non-local Courses Registry.

The Registry will be manned by a Senior Education Officer (SEO) and an Education Officer (EO), and supported by clerical staff. Their telephone/fax numbers will be:

The Section was set up in connection with the Non-local Higher and Professional Education (Regulations) Ordinance, which seeks to safeguard the interests of local students enrolling in non-local courses. The Ordinance was enacted in July 1996 and will come into effect on a date to be published in the Government Gazette.

The Ordinance will require operators of non-local courses to register with the Education Department or to seek exemption from registration.

Course operators or members of the public who wish to make enquiries about the new Ordinance may approach the Registry for assistance.
