Handbook to help parents fight children's drug abuse

A handbook to make parents more knowledgeable about drugs has been produced by the Southern District Fight Crime Committee and the Caritas Outreaching Social Work Team - Aberdeen to help them keep their children away from drugs.

The booklet listed some commonly used drugs and their effect on users, highlighted the behavioural patterns of young drug abusers and suggested ways of improving parents-children communication.

It also gave the telephone numbers of agencies which parents can turn to for help if their children have become addicted to drugs.

Copies of the handbook, printed with financial subsidy from the Southern District Board, have been sent to primary and secondary schools, children and youth centres, mutual aid committees and owners' corporations in the Southern District.

Residents can also obtain the booklet from the Southern District Office at ground floor, Mei Fung Court, 7-11 Nam Ning Street, Aberdeen.
