"The development will accommodate about 8,800 local residents who are going to be affected by redevelopment and demolition of old public housing estates in the district," a spokesman for the Town Planning Board said. To compensate for the loss of the 'O' site, the existing site of the Cheung Sha Wan Estate, which will soon be demolished, has been rezoned from 'R(A)' to 'O'.
"The new 'R(A)' site is more suitable for residential development as compared with the Cheung Sha Wan Estate site which is affected by the traffic noise of Lai Chi Kok Road," he explained.
