As to control measures to safeguard the security of cash and valuables held under the custody of the staff, after the 1992 incident, additional monitoring procedures have been introduced to help detect possible irregularities, including daily checks on sales revenue by a centralised accounts office at the Post Office Headquarters. Furthermore, a review of the overnight cash holding limit for each branch post office has been conducted and the limits have been adjusted downwards to minimise risk.

As regards prevention of burglary, after the 1992 incidents, on the advice of the Crime Prevention Bureau of the Police, additional security measures, including installation of security alarm systems and roller shutters at external doors of post offices, have been introduced.

Education of "gifted" children

Regarding the education of "gifted" children, will the Government inform this

whether the Government has any knowledge of the number of gifted children in other countries; and if so, how do these figures compare with that in the territory; if there are significant differences, whether the Government is aware of the reasons;

what resources and facilities have been provided by the Government in the identification and assessment of gifted children; whether there are sufficient professional staff to undertake this task, what problems have been encountered and what long-term strategies have been adopted by the Government for making improvements;
