Speedpost service to France back to normal

The acting Assistant Postmaster General (Postal Services), Mr Kingsley Li, announced today (Tuesday) that the Speedpost service to France, which was subject to delay due to the public administration and transport strike in the country in December 1995, is now back to normal.

"As for other airmail services to France, a small proportion of the items may still be subject to a delay of one day," Mr Li added,

Illegal use of fire service water

A spokesman for the Water Supplies Department today (Tuesday) reminded the public that it was illegal to use water from fire service installations for any purpose other than fire-fighting.

The spokesman was commenting on two recent court cases which involved such offences.

A worker in Tsuen Wan was charged with taking water from fire service installations for refurbishing work, while the employee of a restaurant at Shek Kip Mei Estate was prosecuted for using fire service water for cleansing purpose.

Both pleaded guilty and were fined $3,000 and $1,000 respectively.
