The rainstrom and flood warnings are now well established as territory-wide warnings. They are based on predicted and actual rainfalls throughout the territory as a whole. In addition, we have introduced siren warning systems in five particular flood-prone areas. These systems, in Tan Kwai Tsuen. San Tin, Kwu Tong, Tak Yuet Lau and Tai Tau Leng, automatically activate when local conditions produce a significant risk of local flooding.
We will continue to investigate options to develop further flood warning systems which take into account local needs and which would enhance the current rainfall and flood warning systems.
