Absentee voting arrangement

Following is a question by the Hon Lee Cheuk-yan and a written reply by the Secretary for Constitutional Affairs, Mr Nicholas Ng, in the Legislative Council today (Wednesday):

Question:

Will the Government inform this Council:

(a)

whether it has any plan to safeguard the right to vote of those electors who happen to be abroad on business or for pleasure on election day;

and

whether it will consider following other countries' practice so that those electors who are abroad are able to vote at the local British consulates?
