Tenders invited for channel works
The Drainage Services Department is inviting tenders for the construction of a main drainage channel for Yuen Long and Kam Tin under Stage I of a flood-control project for Northwest New Territories.
The works involve the construction of a 2.2-kilometre concrete lined drainage channel along the middle reaches of the existing Kam Tin River to alleviate the flooding situation in Kam Tin area.
The contract also includes construction of two footbridges and two vehicular bridges to reprovide access for pedestrians and vehicles.
Upon completion of the works, the flow capacity of the drainage system in Kam Tin will be much increased.
The works are scheduled to begin in October this year and will take about 33 months to complete.
A notice of the tender invitation was gazetted today (Friday).

The tender closing date is noon on August 4.
